Ask a QuestionAbout Malteses AnonymousIs a teacup, or smaller bred Maltese puppy recognized by the AKC or CKC? How are they bred down that small with no effects to the breed? 2 CommentsAnonymousAnytime an animal is bred from its original size to smaller or even larger, there will always be effects to the breed. The Maltese's average weight and height is 6 - 11 lbs and 7 - 10 inches at the shoulder. To breed smaller dogs, the breeder will select the smallest dogs of the purebred breed and breed them together and only breed the smallest of those puppies, and so on and so forth. The AKC and CKC do not recognize any Maltese that is considered "teacup" that is not in the set standards of the breed.AnonymousThere is no such thing as a teacup. It is just a smaller size and probably not as healthy.AnonymousCan I find a female Maltese puppy that is small but not tiny and the price range is $0-$450?
1 CommentAnonymousIt is possible to find a Maltese puppy for that price range, but please remember at the price range, you are most likely not going to get a quality bred pup. The reason why puppies cost so much nowadays is because breeders are putting much more into their breeding dogs/stock and working harder to produce the best puppies they can. Price normally will reflect on the amount of work done to a litter, but it also depends on where the breeder is and supply/demand. Always interview your breeder and make sure that they are doing everything they can to bring the best pups into the world.AnonymousAre all Maltese dogs hypoallergenic? 1 CommentAnonymousYes, the Maltese is considered a hypoallergenic breed of dog.Anonymous asked:My family and I are very experienced, respected breeders of herding dogs. We have one Maltipoo that blew me away with his charm, loyalty, and loving nature. I am debating on buying a full breed Maltese female as a companion. How do they do in a pack situation?
Our Maltipoo holds his own very well, and the larger dogs have no problem with him either. Not sure about a pure breed Maltese. Spent a week a hotel with a person that had one and it barked THE WHOLE TIME! But was extremely well trained, off leash whole time, new all basic commands. Was affectionate to me, just seemed to bark like she was never taught not too, and it entertained her! I do not want a barking puppy. Is this common to the breed or was that improper training, temperament, or pure boredom? Thanks Maltese pros out there! 2 CommentsAnonymousThe Maltese is known to be a barker. They have a voice and they like to announce it. This breed is very attached to it's owners and when left alone or in a strange place, then the voice always comes out. The Maltese would do fine in a pack situation, providing that your herding dogs don't have much of a prey drive and won't see him/her as a toy to play with. However, the Maltese is a fragile dog that can not be played with hard or be allowed to jump up and down off furniture as a puppy.
With proper training, socialization, a good temperament from good breeding, you should be able to keep the barking in check.AnonymousMy maltese was also a barker... didn't matter what I did as far as training or not encouraging the barking... He did it his entire life but MORE so when people came to visit. after company was in the house for about 10 minutes he would stop... or at least tone it down. However, I wouldn't have traded that boy for anything!AnonymousCan I buy a teacup Maltese puppy for sale around $1,000 - $2,000? 2 CommentsAnonymousI am sure there are many breeders in your area and even on this site that would have the pup you are looking for for that price.
