Sony Vaio Laptop Flashing Green Power Light

Message 1 of 28
When I turn on my Sony Vaio Model PCG-61611L, the green LED light goes on, but nothing much happens. The laptop is from 2010 and is never abused, so I do not know what has happened. It just started doing this on occasions and now I can't turn it on at all.

It looks like you have no POST issue. Does the caplock/numlock light up when you press it? Have you try connecting it to an external monitor to see if it's a dim display issue? If it's a no POST, try reseating the ram or using it one at a time...you can also remove the optical drive and the hard drive to see if you can boot to no operatiing system found. If you can't still the unit would require service... Message 3 of 28} I have also problem with my sony vaio e series model, the power indicator is light on, the fan is spinning, the CD ROM is working, the capslock, vaio is not working or no light, the charging is working, the HD indicator is not blinking his light is stable but there is no start up display screen is totally black

. Message 4 of 2 , It's possible that you have a no POST or a dim display. Try reseating the memory to see if that will work. If not, try shining a flashlight at the LCD and see if you can see anything. Also try connecting it to an external monitor. Message 5 of {1} Did you get your laptop fixed?? I went to turn on my Sony Vaio PCG - 61611L and the green power light was already on, but the screen was black and the caps, scroll, and num lock lights were out. What was your solution/ Message 7 od {1} Here's how I got it to work, follow these steps in this order... 1. If the computer is off, leave it off... If not hold the power button for 5 seconds until it turns off. For the next step locate the button next to the ALT to the right of the space bar, ( it looks like a dropdown with an arrow on it) Just refer to it as the dropdown button... 2. When the computer is off, at the same time push the dropdown button and the Assist button (next to the power button) at the same time, and it should turn on... let me know if this helps you out, I was relieved when my laptop turned on, hope it works out for ed {1} Unfortunately this didn't work for me. Pressing the dropdown & Assit buttons seem to power it on like pressing the power button, but nothing happens other than the power button turning

Apr 30, 2010 09:53AM HP Power supply flashing green light This is an easy fix so here you go nice and simple: Problem: Your motherboard circuit has been cut. Causes: Power disconnected during operation. Power outage or short in the surge protector. Symptoms: Flashing green light on both motherboard and power supply. System will not power on. Step 1: Ensure that both the power supply and the motherboard lights are flashing green, not solid or off. Step 2: While the power is on, disconnect the power supply from the motherboard. This connection is the largest of the connections and should be listed as the 'P1' or 'Primary' power connection. Step 3: Wait until the green light on the motherboard stops flashing and check to ensure that the green light on the power supply is now solid. If it is not solid, disconnect the power to the power supply and wait until the light turns off completely. Then reconnect, it should be solid now. Step 4: While the power is on, reconnect the P1 connection to the motherboard and you should now see that the light on the motherboard is solid.

Step 5: Power on your PC. The problem should not persist. Warnings: If the power supply light remains flashing after you have restored power to it while it is disconnected from the motherboard, it may be a system failure in the power supply itself requiring replacement. Always be careful when working with an active or live power machine. Nov 24, 2009 05:33PM After a bit of research on the internet it seems that a blinking green light on a power cord indicates a short. It is the power brick trying to turn on and then the autoshut off kicking in then trying to turn off etc etc. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about this issue unless you are a electronic engineer. The only thing you can do is a visual inspection of the parts to insure none of them look damaged and desolder resolder if you think you found the culprit. I would advise not to plug the power into the laptop until after this is done as a short is likely to cause more issues. My laptop is now sitting in 100 pieces on my kitchen table... soon to be in the garbage bin.
