Hit by car and badly injured. Please call Veterinary Specialties at 843 884-2441!
Charleston, SC Area Great Dane RescuePlease send prayers and money. I am on the way to the vet with Harvey so I am hoping has an obstruction rather than another bloat. Either way I am looking at at least $1,000 vet bill. Harvey has been through so much and we just celebrated his 8th birthday two days ago. I'm not ready to euthanize him just because I don't have the money to pay this bill. Is this your dog?? This 10-15 lb. (Pomeranian?) mix was hit by a car on Cherry Rd. by Sullivan School &Cherry Park. Animal Control was not going to be able to respond for 45 minutes and were likely to euthanize. When asked, the police said if AC didn't come, they would shoot the dog on the spot. A good Samaritan took him to Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Charlotte, where, after x-rays, pain meds and Diagnostics, he is staying for obse...rvation.
Right now they believe he has a herniated disk, and the next few days will determine whether there are internal injuries. The good Sam has already paid $550 of the bill, but that is just the up front cost. Be on the lookout for a fundraiser coming soon. Please help this sweet girl! http://gofund.me/23dyfbbgCharleston, SC Area Great Dane Rescue added 2 new photos.Meet Brenda, our newest rescue. 7 year old Brenda was used as a breeder until she produced a small litter of puppies who had some deformities. Her "human" then dumped her because she was of no use to him anymore. She was rehomed to a gentleman who had her given a complete hysterectomy about a year ago. However this gentleman is now in prison and we were told that Brenda was going to have been turned into the streets. A Dane lover found out about her, and sought to get her int...
Another rescue wouldn't take her until there were pictures of her getting along with children, and although they were closer, we stepped up to take her immediately. We were told that Brenda was healthy and fit, but when she arrived she was very underweight, lethargic, and was holding her left rear leg off the ground. It appears that she may have been hit by a car, or who knows, maybe a baseball bat, but she rarely puts any weight on that leg and the leg from the knee down is atrophied. It looks like there may be involvement with hip, pelvis, and/or knee. Brenda was covered in ticks when she arrived and we have pulled close to 100 off of her. Please watch for our fundraiser which we will be starting to pay for her bloodwork x-rays and other Diagnostics. Also please hope along with us that her leg will not need to be amputated. Brenda is a sweet, sweet Great Dane who loves everyone - dogs, cats, kids, adults - and deserves to spend the remainder of her time healthy and happy.
