Thinking about adopting a Boston Terrier puppy? Like most people, you’ve probably heard time and again that if you have kids, you should adopt a Boston Terrier puppy (or, gasp! find a Boston Terrier puppy for sale).
The rationale is that an adult shelter dog is an unknown quantity, so buying or adopting a Boston Terrier puppy is safer. 2.  You value your possessions.Puppies eventually can be trained out of this behavior, of course, and there are exceptions to every rule, but generally speaking, an adult Boston Terrier (or any adult dog) is much less likely to shred your drapes like coleslaw or function as a “helpful” canine document shredder. 3.  You work, or otherwise leave the house. So a three-month-old Boston Terrier puppy needs to go outside every three hours, a four-month-old needs to go every four hours, and so on.  But if you’re planning on leaving your dog alone during your workday, you’ll definitely want to adopt a full-grown dog, ideally from a Boston Terrier rescue that can help you find the right dog for your lifestyle. Time to get real: when we ask people what reservations they have about Boston Terrier adoption, we hear the same things over and over again.
Here’s the truth: you absolutely can find a Boston Terrier, even a Boston Terrier puppy, for adoption in an animal shelter or rescue group.  Think about it: let’s say you buy a Boston Terrier puppy for sale by a breeder. But what would happen to your wonderful Boston Terrier if, tragically, something happened to you? Boston Terrier Rescue of Florida, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to saving Boston Terriers who are lost, abandoned or surrendered in Florida and the Southeast United States, regardless of age, health or adoptability.
Our goal is to nourish each Boston Terrier back to emotional and physical health, providing necessary medical care along with an environment that fosters trust and alleviates fear.As a rescue organization, we rely on private foster homes spread throughout Florida, Georgia and Tennessee as temporary homes for the dogs we bring into the rescue. We believe this model provides the right environment to get our Bostons ready for their forever homes by receiving the necessary care and training while being part of a loving foster family. Our foster homes allow our Bostons to play outside and learn how to socialize with humans and other pets. Based on this model, we do not have a permanent facility where prospective adopters/fosters can visit to see our rescues. Instead, our prospective adopters or fosters can view our adoptable Bostons online and fill-out an application. Once approved, our volunteers will work with each applicant to find the best match for their homes. Adopting a dog is a serious commitment.
We strongly encourage anyone thinking about adding a new member to their family to spend some time doing research to be ready for this commitment. We are also happy to work with you to figure out what kind of dog is best for you. If you want to have a dog in your home but aren’t sure you can make the 10-20 year commitment, consider participating in our foster program and other volunteer opportunities. The application process consist of several steps: 1. Submit Adoption Application. Please answer the application questionnaire as honestly and completely as possible. There is a $20.00 non-waivable and non-refundable application fee to ensure applicants are committed to the adoption process. This fee will not count towards the adoption fee. Our rescue reserves the right to reject any application. One our volunteers will review your application and check your personal and veterinary references. If you are renting, we will also need to contact your landlord to ensure your new family member will be approved.
